Developing automated navigation merge in the cloud

Overview

The Challenge

In 2021 Moveout secured sponsorship from the Aberdeen-based Net Zero Technology Centre to collaborate on a project to release the hidden value in legacy seismic surveys. New techniques needed to be developed to ready previously inaccessible data for reprocessing, with legacy survey data supplied by three major UK operating companies.

Results

What we did

When preparing process-ready datasets from legacy seismic data such as the North Sea, long timescales and high costs can be restricting factors. Workflows and methodologies formulated by Moveout demonstrated significant savings and have since been applied to cloud-based legacy data, making it quickly and cost-effectively available for new net-zero based applications. Some of these sets have been processed on a bespoke basis, while others have been uploaded to the NDR for clients to re-process them with modern workflows.

“The NZTC selection committee was impressed with Moveout’s innovative proposal to revitalise legacy seismic data, reducing the requirement for seismic acquisition, and benefitting transition energy projects. They delivered the project objectives of creating a robust time-saving methodology to improve user confidence in the preparation of legacy seismic data for modern applications.”
